Writing Links

We treat the Chicago Manual of Style as one of our bibles around here, and their Chicago-Style Citation Quick Guide provides a terrific, fast resource for citation questions.

The Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association is another invaluable, go-to source and is particularly helpful for those working in the social sciences. Use this link for basics, help, and frequently asked questions.

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Writing Center has a series of excellent links on their Handouts & Demos page for academic writers at every stage of the process. (Don’t miss their mnemonic for the coordinating conjunctions For, And, Nor, But, Or, Yet, So.)

The Purdue Writing Lab has a clear writing handbook with links to APA and MLA style guidelines.

Other sites that may be helpful, particularly for graduate students, are the University of Wisconsin—Madison Writing Center and Adelphi.
